eDesign Premieres
I received the premiere issue of eDesign, the magazine of interactive design and commerce, this past week, and so far the magazine looks like a winner.
Contrary to other graphic design magazines like Print, HOW and Communication Arts, eDesign is focused squarely on the digital industry. This may seem like an odd time for a web or internet related magazine to be launching when others have closed their doors, but the editorial direction of eDesign is different. Instead of simply promoting cool new web sites or interviewing web celebrities, eDesign is all about business.
The premiere issue for example features a much needed article on when, if ever, it is appropriate to animate a corporate identity using Flash or video, the emerging convergence of XML, the personalization / target marketing of web services, and of course lots of book reviews and must-have (or at least fondle) digital devices.
The premiere issue hits so many of the questions regarding the future of web development that additional topics could be few and far between. Here's to hoping that won't be the case.

Do you know if this readily available at Borders/B&N/etc.? I want to pick up a copy to check it out, but I'm not ready to commit to a subscription.

What would you say is the ratio of internet BUSINESS to internet DESIGN/DEVELOPMENT? I used to subscribe to an internet D&D magazine that suddenly, without warning, decided to adopt an all-business approach in mid-subscription. I'm glad it was one of those free-subscription thingies, else I'd have asked for my remaining fee to be refunded. In short, I'm looking for a good D&D-based magazine. If it has some business thrown in, that's fine, too. But please, not another magazine on how to improve your internet-based supply chain management structure or whether or not ASP's will survive the new-new economy... zzzz

Matt, from what I read, eDesign should be in the same stores that HOW magazine does.
